Founded in 1926, FIATA International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations is an organisation with a membership of more than 150 countries across the world. Headquartered in Geneva, it aggressively works towards establishing a smooth strategic partnership between Customs authorities and Freight forwarders. It has been well-appreciated for its dedicated efforts in identifying policy loop holes, fraud, and security threats and protecting the industry from various hazards. It has been constantly observing, examining, and positively influencing all the Customs security policies and works with WCO, WTO, UNECE, UNCTAD, ICC, IRU, and other foundational and regulatory bodies, with the intent of promoting and encouraging effortless coordination with the Customs authorities. Recently, it also welcomed its new Vice Chairman.
Present Hon General Secretary ACAAI, partner of the 67-year-old JBS group, and Advisor FFFAI, Samir J. Shah was elected as the Vice Chairman of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations – FIATA.
An industry veteran, Shah has been a part of the Customs and Freight domain, way back, from 1984. He has extensively worked in Sea Cargo as well as Air Cargo Forwarding and has led many revolutionary projects pertaining to the same. He has worked with several organisations like the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce; TiE, FICCI, CII, Indo-American Chamber of Commerce, and the US-India Importers council, to name a few. Also, he is the proud awardee of the esteemed World Customs Organisation’s Certificate of Merit, rendered to him for his exceptional service to the international Customs community.
