Seven Islands Shipping, one of India’s prominent private oil tanker shipping companies, has bolstered its fleet with the acquisition of a second-hand medium range oil tanker, subsequently rechristened as ‘Pioneer.’ The tanker purchase, backed by Fairfax India Holdings Corporation led by businessman Prem Watsa, marks the company’s latest addition in its ambitious fleet expansion efforts.
Simultaneously, Shreyas Shipping & Logistics, a division of Dubai-based Transworld Group, has acquired three container ships—SSL Godavari, SSL Kaveri, and SSL Thamirabarani. These strategic acquisitions are geared to meet the growing demand for shipping and logistics services in India’s coastal trade. Shreyas Shipping, a key player in the region, operates on the east and west coasts of India, serving neighboring countries and providing essential shipping services.
Both acquisitions signify the commitment of these companies to strengthen their foothold in India’s dynamic shipping and logistics industry. Seven Islands Shipping’s expanding fleet now comprises 25 ships, while Shreyas Shipping’s capacity has grown with its three new container vessels, further cementing their presence in the market.
