Speaking at the 8th National Leadership Conclave hosted by the All India Management Association (AIMA) in New Delhi, Union Minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia mentioned the roads, highways, and civil aviation infrastructure in the country is growing at a significant pace. The Minister leading civil aviation and steel highlighted that PM Gati Shakti Master Plan will change the face of the nation’s infrastructure.
Scindia highlighted how the success of developed nations is driven by the focus on infrastructure. He pointed out that in the past nine years, the average road construction has risen to 40 kilometres per day from 12 kilometres per day, and India has doubled its highway network. Railways are now putting 4,500 kilometres per year in place compared to just 600 kilometres annually earlier. Broadband access reached 816 million people across the country compared to 61 million people in 2013-14.
He added that the government added 74 airports and heliports in the past nine years. The government plans to add over 200 more airports in the next five years to support a USD 20 trillion economy by 2047.
