Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya celebrates India’s rail legacy, hosting leaders and experts for National Rail Transport Day 2024.
Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, a central university under the Ministry of Railways, marked a significant milestone on April 16, 2024, as it commemorated National Rail Transport Day. The event served as a platform for insightful discussions on the transformative role of technology and skill development in the railways sector. Distinguished speakers included luminaries such as Ashwani Lohani, Former Chairman of the Railway Board and CMD of Air India, who emphasised the imperative of nurturing leadership skills in tandem with technological advancements.
Vinay Tripathi, Former Chairman of the Railway Board, emphasised the values of integrity, hard work, and maintenance for ensuring the smooth functioning of the railways. Rajendra Prasad, Former MD of National High-Speed Rail Corporation, shed light on indigenous developments in civil engineering infrastructure and the progress of the Bullet Train project. Sanjiv Garg, Former MD of Pipavav Railway and Secretary-General of CILT India, discussed the immense growth potential of the logistics sector within India’s railway ecosystem. Dr. Satya Gupta, President of VLSI Society of India (VSI), highlighted India’s strides in electronics and semiconductor manufacturing and advocated for the integration of these advancements into the railways sector.
The event brought together faculty, staff, students of Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, mid-career trainee officers of Indian Railways, and faculty members from the National Academy of Indian Railways, Vadodara, fostering collaboration and celebration. Gati Shakti’s Vice Chancellor, Manoj Choudhary, graced the event with his presence.
