In a historic move for Indian Railways, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated 2,000 projects worth ₹41,000 crores, focusing on station redevelopment, overbridges, and underpasses.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared a landmark day for Indian Railways as he virtually inaugurated 2,000 railway projects valued at ₹41,000 crores. Among the key initiatives is the redevelopment of 553 railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, emphasising improved facilities and integrated city centers.
PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the Gurugram railway station upgrade, estimated at ₹295 crores, enhancing facilities and creating a modern travel experience. Additionally, the redeveloped Gomti Nagar station in Uttar Pradesh, costing ₹385 crores, will be inaugurated.
Under the Amrit Bharat scheme, spanning 27 states and Union Territories, stations will transform into city centers with rooftop plazas, landscaping, inter-modal connectivity, and modern amenities. The design will reflect local culture, heritage, and architecture, ensuring an environment and Divyang-friendly approach.
Further, the Prime Minister initiated nearly 1,500 road overbridges and underpasses across 24 states and Union Territories, totaling ₹21,520 crores. These projects aim to alleviate congestion, enhance safety, and boost rail travel efficiency.
The projects announced mark a significant step towards easing the lives of citizens, promoting sustainability, and reinforcing the government’s commitment to modernising India’s railway infrastructure.
