On Monday, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated ITC’s cutting-edge Integrated Consumer Goods Manufacturing and Logistics (ICML) plant in Khurda. Naveen asked ITC chairman Sanjeev Puri to extend the company’s presence in the state on the occasion.
This is Odisha’s first integrated consumer goods production and logistics plant, spanning 35 acres. The facility is deliberately designed to house a total of seven production lines, each dedicated to creating ITC’s world-class food products in stages.
Among those in attendance were Jatni MLA Suresh Kumar Routray, Khordha MLA Jyotirindra Nath Mitra, and Sanjeev Puri, chairman and managing director of ITC. More than 55% of the workers at the Khurda facility will be women.
Through several co-manufacturing units for its FMCG items, the company will also continue to foster local entrepreneurship.
The government has issued the Industrial Policy Resolution (IPR) 2022, which intends to transform Odisha into a modern and sophisticated industrial state by providing investors with exceptional possibilities for long-term corporate growth and to support comprehensive socioeconomic development.
The food processing sector is one of the IPR priority areas, and this facility by ITC represents a key milestone for the sector in Odisha.
The establishment of this integrated facility with the active backing of the government reaffirms the state’s commitment to encouraging industrial growth and creating job opportunities by providing world-class investment facilitation to investors across industries.
