Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the long-awaited MMTS Phase II sections, Sanathnagar-Moula Ali and Secunderabad-Ghatkesar, in March.
In a significant development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate the eagerly awaited MMTS Phase II sections, Sanathnagar-Moula Ali and Secunderabad-Ghatkesar, in March. The Cherlapally railway terminal will also witness its inauguration during the Prime Minister’s visit, marking a momentous occasion for over two lakh commuters.
The completion of Sanathnagar-Moula Ali and Ghatkesar-Moula Ali sections brings respite to passengers facing pollution and traffic snarls during their commute. The operational MMTS service will notably slash travel time between Sanathnagar and Moula Ali from an hour to just 30 minutes, providing a considerable convenience.
Moreover, the Ghatkesar-Moula Ali line will offer an efficient alternative for the thousands traveling from Ghatkesar to the city center, reducing dependency on buses and enhancing overall connectivity. The project’s estimated cost of 1,150 crores, with railways contributing one-third and the state government two-thirds, faces challenges due to a delay in project execution caused by insufficient funds.
Despite the railways investing 580 crores, the state government has only deposited 379 crores, creating a shortfall. The MMTS Phase II project, sanctioned in 2012, spans 96 km in seven sections, with 45.4 km of rail network already completed.
