Saudi Arabia’s King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam has introduced an India Gulf Express shipping service operated by CMA CGM, aimed at enhancing connections with seven key global destinations. This strategic move aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, seeking to bolster maritime links, offer faster transit times, and cost-effective solutions to local exporters, solidifying the Kingdom’s position as a prominent logistics and economic hub.
The service, featuring four weekly ships with a capacity exceeding 39,000 containers, establishes direct links between the Dammam port and major maritime hubs in India, Sri Lanka, the UAE, and Iraq. Saudi Arabia’s commitment to expanding its maritime network is evident, as it marks the 25th addition to the country’s growing list of maritime links in 2023. This expansion reflects in Saudi Arabia’s improved score on the UNCTAD’s Liner Shipping Connectivity Index and its global ranking in container throughput volumes.
