Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, shared that a crucial cross-border road project under the Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Project (KMTTP) will connect India’s south Mizoram’s Lawngtlai district with Myanmar’s Sittwe port and is expected to be completed by November this year.
Speaking at a rally in Mizoram, Gadkari outlined the significance of infrastructure development in fostering all-around growth. He also announced a substantial Rs 20,000-crore road project aimed at linking Mizoram with Nagaland, Manipur, and Myanmar’s international boundary. Gadkari emphasised the importance of infrastructure investment to stimulate industry, agriculture, job creation, and poverty eradication. He mentioned the progress in expanding the national highway network under his tenure and detailed several road construction projects contributing to the economic and trade development of Mizoram.
