Jaya Verma Sinha has become the first woman Chief Executive Officer and Chairperson of the railway board, approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).
Sinha is an Indian Railway Management Services (IRMS) officer and has been serving as the Member (Operations and Business Development) of the Railway Board since 2021. She is a graduate of Allahabad University and has over 30 years of experience in the railways. She has held several key positions in the railways, including Divisional Railway Manager of the Sealdah division of the Eastern Railway.
Her appointment is a significant milestone for the railways and is a recognition of her outstanding achievements in the organisation. She is expected to bring a fresh perspective and new ideas to the railways and help it achieve its goals. She will succeed Anil Kumar Lahoti.
