Indore tops Madhya Pradesh exports, achieving over ₹20,000 crore in FY 2023-24.
Indore has emerged as the top exporter in Madhya Pradesh, recording outbound shipments worth ₹20,256 crore in the fiscal year 2023-24. This marks a 12 per cent increase from the previous year’s ₹18,014 crore, as per the Joint Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) data. The city’s export growth was largely fueled by the pharmaceutical, textile, and engineering sectors.
Dhar followed Indore with exports totaling ₹10,973 crore, showing a slight rise from the previous fiscal year. Medicines were the primary export from Dhar. Overall, Madhya Pradesh’s total exports stood at ₹65,255 crore, a 1 per cent decline from the previous year, with pharmaceuticals contributing ₹13,158 crore.
“Indore and Dhar are leading in exports, with pharmaceuticals being the major contributor. We expect continued growth in pharma, soy, cotton, and engineering products this fiscal year,” said Suvidh Shah, Joint Director General of Foreign Trade, Madhya Pradesh.
Indore exported ₹4,451 crore worth of medicines, up from ₹3,740 crore the prior year, while Dhar’s medicine exports were ₹1,495 crore. Other significant exports from the state included machinery, readymade garments, organic chemicals, and aluminium. Soybean meal exports from Agar-Malwa, Dewas, and Neemuch also saw notable increases.
