India’s gems and jewellery exports fell by 4.62% in April, reaching USD 2,037.06 million, according to GJEPC data. Cut and polished diamond exports also saw a decline.

India’s overall gems and jewellery exports experienced a decline of 4.62% in April, totalling USD 2,037.06 million, according to data released by the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC).
The GJEPC data, released on Tuesday, revealed that the country’s total gems and jewellery exports for the same period in the previous financial year stood at USD 2,135.7 million.
A key contributor to this downturn was the performance of ‘Cut and Polished’ diamonds, which saw a 6.12% decrease in exports. In April, exports of ‘Cut and Polished’ diamonds reached USD 1,108.74 million, compared to USD 1,180.99 million in the same period of the previous year.
