Strong demand of red chilli from China and Bangladesh drives growth.
India’s red chilli exports have achieved a milestone, reaching an all-time high of $1.509 billion during the fiscal year 2023-24. This substantial increase, up by 15 percent from the previous year’s $1.30 billion, is largely attributed to robust demand from major markets such as China and Bangladesh. In Indian rupee terms, the exports amounted to ₹12,492 crore, reflecting a notable 18 percent growth compared to ₹10,564 crore in the preceding year.
The surge in exports underscores India’s prominent position as a leading global supplier of red chillies, benefiting from favourable international market conditions and strong agricultural output.
