Indian Railways’ GSV Vadodara partners with Airbus to advance aviation education, marking a milestone in industry-academia collaboration.
Indian Railways’ Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) Vadodara and Airbus have signed a landmark agreement aimed at enhancing India’s aviation sector. The collaboration, stemming from a Memorandum of Understanding signed in September 2023, was formalized at Rail Bhawan, New Delhi. Present at the signing were Rémi Maillard, President and Managing Director of Airbus India and South Asia, and Prof. Manoj Choudhary, Vice-Chancellor of GSV.
The agreement includes provisions for a full scholarship program benefiting 40 GSV students, the establishment of a Centre of Excellence at GSV, and the creation of an Airbus Aviation Chair Professorship. Additionally, GSV and Airbus will collaborate on executive training programs for aviation professionals. Speaking on the occasion, Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Railways and Chancellor of GSV, emphasized the government’s commitment to comprehensive transportation development under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, Union Minister of Civil Aviation, highlighted the rapid growth of India’s aviation sector and pledged continued support to GSV.
Rémi Maillard underscored Airbus’s commitment to India’s ‘Skill India’ initiative and outlined plans to create job opportunities for 15,000 students within Airbus’s supply chain in India. Prof. Manoj Choudhary expressed gratitude for Airbus’s significant contribution to GSV’s educational and research initiatives, envisioning the partnership as a blueprint for future industry-academia collaborations in India.
Established in 2022 under an Act of Parliament, GSV Vadodara aims to cultivate skilled manpower across India’s transportation and logistics sectors in alignment with national developmental plans.
