In an announcement on the occasion of the International Day of Air Traffic Controllers, Vumlunmang Vualnam, the Civil Aviation Secretary, disclosed that the number of daily flight departures in India, currently at 2,900, is poised to rise due to increased air traffic. While not providing specific details, Vualnam mentioned that a significant Indian airport is actively studying the feasibility of doubling its flight slots.
India, recognised as one of the world’s fastest-growing civil aviation markets, is experiencing an upsurge in air travel. Minister of State for Civil Aviation, V K Singh, acknowledged the vital role of Air Traffic Controllers (ATCs) as they grapple with the rising air traffic. The event, organised by the ATC Guild, India, was attended by senior officials, including Piyush Srivastava, Senior Economic Advisor, and Alok Yadav, General Secretary of ATC Guild India.
