Hellmann Worldwide Logistics has appointed Lee I’Ons as the new regional chief executive for India, the Middle East, and Africa (IMEA), succeeding Madhav Kurup, who has been promoted to the global management board.
Bringing 30 years of logistics experience, I’Ons started his career at a shipping agency in Durban before moving to Kühne+Nagel, where he held senior leadership roles for 26 years. Most recently, he served as national manager for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and president of the Middle East and Africa.
In his new role, I’Ons will focus on accelerating Hellmann’s growth in IMEA, leveraging his deep connections with the region, its people, and markets. The IMEA region remains a crucial growth driver for Hellmann, with 2,000 employees across 14 countries and six vertical joint ventures. The region includes some of the world’s fastest-growing markets, such as India, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, alongside emerging opportunities across Africa.
Jens Drewes, chief executive of Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, emphasised I’Ons’ pivotal role in further strengthening the company’s presence. “While we are already market leaders in sectors like automotive and pharma, Lee’s leadership will be fundamental in building on the strong foundation laid by Madhav and his team as we pursue our expansion plans.”
Kurup, who led the region since 2008, has been elevated to the global management board as chief operating officer for airfreight, seafreight, and contract logistics.
