Gati, an Allcargo Group company known for its premier express logistics and supply chain solutions, has decided to expand its EV-based last-mile delivery partnership with furnishings retailer IKEA India for its outlet in Nagasandra, Bengaluru. The logistics provider aims to offer green express logistics and support the Indian government’s goal to cut net carbon emissions to zero by 2070.
Gati has deployed three-wheeler electric cargo vehicles at IKEA’s Nagasandra store and plans to buy bigger four-wheeler cargo vehicles soon. The move comes after Gati’s collaboration with IKEA’s Hyderabad store. It aims to boost EV-driven last-mile deliveries to its outlets to more than 70 per cent by 2023.
Gati plans to transform its pickup and delivery fleet into EVs by 2025. Towards the goal, the company is leasing EVs from many transport vendors and setting up EV charging stations at its warehouses to build a supportive infrastructure for faster deployment. Its warehouses already have solar rooftop panels, enabling the EV charging stations to run on solar power.
