Emirates SkyCargo announces an order for five Boeing 777 freighters, enhancing its capacity to meet rising global demand.
Emirates SkyCargo has confirmed an order for an additional five Boeing 777 freighters, valued at US$1 billion, scheduled for delivery between 2025 and 2026. This strategic investment expands Emirates’ total wide-body aircraft order book to 315.
Throughout the first quarter of the 2024-25 financial year, Emirates SkyCargo has demonstrated exceptional performance, surpassing 2019 figures with consistently high load factors and tonnages. The introduction of these new aircraft will increase main deck cargo capacity by 30 percent, enabling Emirates to enhance service offerings in key markets and meet growing customer demand.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates airline and Group, emphasised the significance of this investment in meeting escalating demand and supporting Dubai’s Economic Agenda. He stated, “This additional Boeing 777 capacity is integral to our strategic growth plan, ensuring we can deliver world-class services amidst increasing global trade.”
Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, expressed Boeing’s commitment to supporting Emirates SkyCargo’s expansion. “We are honoured by Emirates’ continued trust in the Boeing 777 Freighter, reinforcing our longstanding partnership and commitment to operational excellence.”
Emirates SkyCargo plans to retire older freighters with the introduction of these new aircraft, maintaining one of the industry’s youngest and most efficient fleets.
