DHL Express has confirmed the diversion of freighter flights from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) to avert potential air cargo operational disruptions during an ongoing strike by more than 1,100 workers.
The strike, initiated on December 7 by DHL Express workers in the International Brotherhood of Teamsters union, coincides with the peak period for air cargo volumes. Although CVG serves as DHL Express’s main international hub in the US, facilitating 130 daily flights and hosting a fleet of 60 aircraft, DHL Group states that operational capacity across its US network remains unaffected.
The strike continues while DHL Express engages in contract negotiations with the Teamsters Union, representing a portion of its US employees. No agreed deadline for negotiations has been established. Other cargo carriers at CVG include Alaska Air Cargo, American Cargo, Delta Cargo, FedEx, Southwest Cargo, and United Cargo.
