DHL Express and Singapore Airlines (SIA) have initiated a collaborative venture to operate a fresh freighter flight route connecting Singapore and the United States. The service will be executed using a SIA Boeing 777 freighter, featuring five weekly flights on a Singapore-Nagoya-Los Angeles-Honolulu-Singapore rotation, as well as a weekly flight along the Singapore-Taipei-Nagoya-Nagoya-Cincinnati-Honolulu-Sydney-Singapore route.
This partnership is an extension of the crew and maintenance agreement established between the two companies in March 2022, which included deploying five Boeing 777 freighters for services connecting South Asia, North Asia, and North America. These freighters are based at Singapore’s Changi Airport.
DHL Express, the sole provider in Japan’s international express industry to utilise Nagoya’s Central Japan International Airport, continues to bolster its services, facilitating growth for customers in the Chubu region.
Singapore Airlines’ contribution enhances DHL Express’ intercontinental air network expansion and reinforces Central Japan International Airport’s role as a significant air cargo and e-commerce logistics hub in Japan. The Boeing 777 freighter, boasting a 102-tonne capacity, bears the joint livery of DHL and SIA.
Four of the five freighters agreed upon have already been deployed, with the final aircraft expected to arrive later this year. The initial four-year agreement also includes an extension option, with the airlines looking to cater to growing e-commerce demands and explore further expansion possibilities.
