The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has marked a significant achievement with the completion of the 2-km tunnel between Anand Vihar and Sahibabad, signifying the conclusion of the entire Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS) corridor.
Vinay Kumar Singh, MD of NCRTC, initiated the final breakthrough by pressing a remote button in the presence of senior officials. The rapid tunneling process, completed in less than 18 months, utilised advanced Sudarshan tunnel boring machines. The project’s remaining 70-km elevated section is also progressing well. The successful tunneling marks a crucial step toward opening the 82-km long corridor, expected to be accessible to the public by 2025.
