Aurrigo International plc strengthens its aviation pursuits with the strategic appointment of Lewis Girdwood as the Executive Director of Aviation Technology.
Aurrigo International plc, listed on AIM in September 2022, has appointed Lewis Girdwood as its Executive Director of Aviation Technology. Girdwood, former Head of Financial Planning and Analysis at EasyJet and CFO of IAG Cargo, will lead the rollout of Aurrigo’s third-generation Auto-DollyTug®—an innovative all-electric, autonomous vehicle designed to streamline baggage handling at airports.
The company anticipates the technology to be operational at five airports by mid-year, addressing efficiency and skills gap challenges in the aviation sector.
Lewis Girdwood, who previously served as the non-exec Audit Chair at Aurrigo, expressed enthusiasm about the company’s momentum in the aviation sector. David Keene, CEO at Aurrigo, lauded Girdwood’s contributions and highlighted the importance of his financial and aviation background in achieving ambitious growth plans. Girdwood’s move has paved the way for Peter Whiting to join Aurrigo as an independent non-executive Director and Chair of the Audit Committee, bringing his extensive experience as an investment analyst in equity capital markets to the board.
