Air India and Vistara integrate line maintenance operations under CAR 145, enhancing operational synergy.
In a strategic move towards operational unification, Air India and Vistara have received CAR 145 approval from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to integrate their aircraft line maintenance operations. According to an official release, this merger brings Vistara’s Line Maintenance under Air India’s facilities, marking a significant milestone in consolidating the maintenance resources of both airlines.
The integration is expected to enhance Air India’s technical capabilities by leveraging the combined expertise of both carriers, optimising processes, and implementing industry-leading practices. This will lead to improved operational performance, reduced aircraft turnaround times, and better on-time performance (OTP).
With line maintenance now in-house at 12 stations across India, Air India will be more self-reliant and streamlined. The merger will unify technical activities under a single scope, bringing all maintenance work under one umbrella, thereby improving coordination, real-time troubleshooting, and creating economies of scale in resource mobilisation across the fleet, including Air India Express.
