India is preparing to welcome some of the world’s largest container ships as the Vizhinjam transshipment container port nears its inauguration on October 15. Situated near the southernmost tip of the country, this first-of-its-kind Indian port aims to increase India’s share of the international maritime trade market currently dominated by China.
This strategic location offers proximity to international shipping routes, making it an ideal hub for the largest vessels. Developed by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone in collaboration with the state government, the Vizhinjam port marks an important addition to Gautam Adani’s infrastructure conglomerate, solidifying his status as India’s infrastructure leader.
