The third meeting of the G20 Infrastructure Working Group (IWG) concluded successfully on 28th June 2023 under the Indian G20 Presidency. The three-day event, which began on 26th June, brought together 63 delegates from G20 member countries, invitee countries, and international organisations.
During the final day of the IWG meeting, two sessions were conducted, focusing on enhancing the capacities of urban administrations and addressing key aspects of the 2023 Infrastructure Agenda. The discussion on ‘Making India a MRO Hub’ elaborated on the opportunities presented by India in the aviation sector.
Piyush Srivastava, Senior Economic Advisor, Ministry of Civil Aviation, also took part in the event. Other delegates expressed their appreciation for the warm hospitality extended by the Indian Presidency and commended their efforts in achieving progress across various workstreams. The delegates were also allowed to explore Uttarakhand’s cultural heritage through visits to the Beatles Ashram and the Triveni Ghat, where they experienced the Ganga Aarti. Additionally, the delegates enjoyed the local cuisines of Uttarakhand and participated in a Yoga Retreat and a friendly cricket match at the PTC grounds.
The next and final meeting of the Infrastructure Working Group is scheduled to take place in Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh in September 2023. The IWG looks forward to continuing its collaborative efforts in shaping sustainable and resilient infrastructure development for the benefit of all G20 member countries.
