Sarbananda Sonowal, Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, was at the signing of the MoU. Several other dignitaries attended the function, including senior officials from the MoPSW, RIS, and IPA.
Dr. Sanjeev Ranjan, Secretary (PSW), praised the IPA and RIS teams for their efforts in establishing the centre. He stated that the proposed project of a transshipment port at Galathea Bay in Greater Nicobar in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands will be beneficial to the BIMSTEC nations in the future. As a result, the Prime Minister’s GatiShakti initiative will extend beyond India’s borders, benefiting ports in neighbouring countries as well. Union Minister for Ports, Shipping & Waterways, and Ayush, Sarbananda Sonowal, stated that “under the leadership of our Prime Minister, people are witnessing great changes, particularly in the infrastructure and policy areas. The entire world is now looking to India for leadership in almost every sector. The Minister also expressed his opinion that “RIS should also offer their expertise in policy formulation so that policy decisions can be implemented by the government in line with the visions of our visionary Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
