India and Brunei Darussalam have reviewed trade links and flagged pharmaceuticals, healthcare and energy for cooperation.

The third meeting of the India-Brunei Darussalam Joint Trade Committee (JTC) was convened to review bilateral trade and economic cooperation and identify ways to strengthen commercial ties. It was co-chaired by India’s Joint Secretary for Commerce, Shri Amit Verma and Brunei Darussalam’s Permanent Secretary (Economy and Trade), Dr May Fa’ezah Ahmad Ariffin.
Discussions focused on expanding bilateral trade, addressing market access priorities and identifying institutional mechanisms to facilitate business-to-business exchanges. Both sides also deliberated on facilitating exports of agricultural and animal products from India to Brunei Darussalam to support food security and diversify trade.
Pharmaceuticals, healthcare and energy were identified as key areas for further cooperation. Both sides explored regulatory collaboration, procurement and healthcare services, while energy discussions covered traditional and emerging partnerships.
The two sides also emphasised people-to-people ties through tourism cooperation and participation in trade fairs and exhibitions. Targeted trade promotion events and reciprocal business delegations could help identify investment opportunities in manufacturing, infrastructure and services. Both sides reaffirmed regular communication between nodal agencies and working groups to monitor follow-up actions. The next meeting will be held in Brunei Darussalam.
