Worldwide Flight Services has signed a new three-year cargo handling contract with China Eastern Airlines at Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
Worldwide Flight Services (WFS), a SATS company, has renewed its cargo handling contract with China Eastern Airlines at Stockholm Arlanda Airport. The new three-year agreement follows China Eastern’s resumption of non-stop services between Shanghai and Stockholm, marking the route’s return after a six-year gap. WFS previously served as China Eastern’s handling partner in Sweden before the pandemic, having begun operations for the airline in 2018.
China Eastern now operates three round-trip flights a week between Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Stockholm, on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and expects to carry over 1,000 tonnes of cargo annually on the route. The connection is considered strategically important for trade and tourism between Scandinavia and Asia.
Kim Elfström, Managing Director Sweden at WFS, said the company was pleased to welcome back China Eastern as a customer at Stockholm Arlanda, citing a strong pre-pandemic working relationship and continued ties with the airline through its ongoing contract in Copenhagen. He added that WFS looked forward to supporting China Eastern’s return to Sweden and its future growth on the route.
WFS operates two cargo terminals at Stockholm Arlanda Airport spanning more than 18,000 square metres, including Good Distribution Practice (GDP)-certified pharma handling facilities and road transport services. The company provides cargo handling and trucking services for more than 20 international airlines and freight forwarding clients. In the past 12 months, WFS has also renewed its cargo contract with Singapore Airlines and secured a new handling agreement with Norse Atlantic Airways in Stockholm.
