Initiative expands market access for traditional artisans.
A PM Vishwakarma (PMV) stall was inaugurated at Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport, Chandigarh, on July 14, 2026, becoming the second operational PMV stall at an airport in India. Established with the support of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and a Self-Help Group (SHG), the stall provides three PM Vishwakarma beneficiaries from Chandigarh with a platform to showcase and sell their handcrafted products. The first operational PMV stall was inaugurated earlier at Raja Bhoj Airport, Bhopal.
The stall is operated by PM Vishwakarma beneficiaries Shri Beju Tulsidas, a basket maker, Kumari Shaista Rani, a doll and toy maker, and Shri Rahul Kumar, a potter. According to the government, the initiative is intended to improve market access for traditional artisans by providing exposure to domestic and international travellers while supporting the objectives of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, which offers recognition, skill training, toolkit assistance, collateral-free credit, digital transaction incentives and market linkage support to artisans engaged in 18 traditional trades.
