Union Environment Minister Shri Bhupender Yadav presided over the ASSOCHAM National Conference on Electric Mobility in New Delhi on 2 July 2026, reaffirming the government’s commitment to building India as a global hub for clean mobility under the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.

Yadav emphasised that the transition to electric mobility must focus on green growth, resilient infrastructure, circular economy principles and transparent governance. The government has undertaken reforms to simplify environmental clearances and digitise approval systems through the PARIVESH portal. Deliberations covered policy continuity, charging infrastructure expansion, localisation of EV manufacturing, battery supply chain resilience, critical mineral security and battery recycling as the key enablers for accelerating EV adoption.
