Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices for domestic airlines remained unchanged on May 1, 2026, as state-owned oil companies decided to absorb the rise in global fuel prices to protect airlines and consumers, as per IndianOil. Retail prices of petrol, diesel and domestic LPG cylinders have also been kept steady, insulating consumers from international price volatility. ATF prices are revised on the first of every month based on input costs.

While no change has been made in rates for domestic airlines, ATF for international airline operations has been increased. Bulk diesel and commercial LPG cylinders have also seen price revisions, though these account for less than one per cent of total consumption. Prices of kerosene distributed under the public distribution system also remained unchanged.
In overall terms, about 80 per cent of petroleum products saw no change, 4 per cent recorded a decrease and 16 per cent, largely industrial fuels, registered an increase in prices. IndianOil noted that price revisions have been limited to select industrial segments subject to routine monthly adjustments based on global benchmarks.
The decision to hold domestic ATF prices comes amid significant stress in India’s aviation sector, with carriers already contending with elevated global jet fuel costs, longer flight routes due to airspace closures and mounting operational expenses on international corridors.
