Piyush Goyal meets the German minister in Berlin to deepen trade, tech, and green logistics cooperation.

In a major push to enhance bilateral economic cooperation, India and Germany have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening trade, investment, and logistics linkages. Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal met German Federal Minister for Economy and Energy Katherina Reiche in Berlin on 23 October 2025, marking a significant step in advancing the India-Germany partnership.
The meeting followed their earlier video conference held on 7 August 2025, focusing on collaboration in trade, technology, green energy, and skill development. Both ministers discussed sustainable industrial growth and streamlining supply chains to boost global competitiveness.
During his visit, Shri Goyal also met Dr Levin Holle, Economic and Financial Policy Advisor at the Federal Chancellery and Germany’s G7 and G20 Sherpa, to explore avenues for deeper economic and financial cooperation.
Later, Shri Goyal chaired a roundtable with CEOs of leading German Mittelstand companies at the Indian Embassy in Berlin. Industry leaders expressed strong interest in expanding investments in India, citing improved ease of doing business, government-led reforms, and India’s emergence as a manufacturing and logistics hub under the PM Gati Shakti and Make in India initiatives.
Discussions highlighted opportunities in innovation, sustainability, and advanced manufacturing, with emphasis on developing green logistics and technology-driven trade infrastructure.
Goyal is also scheduled to meet Xavier Bettel, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Luxembourg, along with CEOs of major German corporations, including Infineon Technologies, Schaeffler Group, Renk, Herrenknecht AG, Enertrag SE, and Mercedes-Benz Group.
The Minister’s engagements continued on 24 October with a panel discussion at the Berlin Global Dialogue, alongside meetings with key German industry associations to further enhance cooperation in trade facilitation, logistics innovation, and EXIM competitiveness.
This series of high-level engagements underscores India’s growing importance in the global trade ecosystem and its efforts to attract European investment in green energy, smart logistics, and advanced supply chain solutions.
