Union Minister Nitin Gadkari unveiled a roadmap to make India the No. 1 global hub for automobiles and green mobility.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari outlined India’s target to become the world’s leading automobile manufacturing hub within the next five years. Speaking at the International Value Summit 2025 in New Delhi, he said India has already overtaken Japan to rank third globally and aims to climb to the top spot.
Gadkari noted that global automobile brands now use India not only for assembly but also for exports, with over half of two-wheeler production shipped abroad. He emphasized India’s leadership in electric mobility, hydrogen-powered vehicles, and alternative fuels, backed by government grants of ₹600 crore for hydrogen infrastructure.
Highlighting road infrastructure achievements, Gadkari said India now operates the world’s second-largest road network, with expressways like Chennai–Bengaluru and the ₹23,000 crore Bengaluru Ring Road set to transform connectivity.
The minister also stressed sustainability, citing projects using landfill waste and trials of bio-bitumen made from rice straw. He called for global partnerships in innovation, technology, and green transport solutions.
