At EEPC India Awards, Piyush Goyal stresses swadeshi, self-reliance, and India’s rise as a top global economy.

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal, addressing the 56th EEPC India National Awards, emphasised India’s collective strength to face global challenges. He urged businesses to prioritize swadeshi products and Atmanirbhar Bharat, highlighting that dependency on imports exposes India to export controls and supply chain risks.
Goyal recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day call to promote Made in India products and urged businesses to innovate and source domestically. He noted India’s engineering exports have risen from USD 10 million in 1955 to USD 116 billion today, underscoring the sector’s growth potential.
The Minister reiterated India’s commitment to the “Zero Defect, Zero Effect” motto, ensuring high-quality, sustainable exports. He said India is now viewed as a trusted global partner, ranking among the top three in sustainability efforts under COP21 commitments.
Highlighting economic progress, Goyal stated that India has moved from the “fragile five” to the world’s top five economies, with 7.8% GDP growth in the last quarter. He credited GST reforms for boosting demand and expressed confidence that inclusive growth will strengthen India’s path to global leadership.
