Paras Defence teams with Germany’s HPS GmbH to co-develop satellite reflector tech, boosting India’s space self-reliance.

In a move set to redefine India’s space capabilities, Paras Defence & Space Technologies has inked an exclusive teaming agreement with Germany’s High Performance Space Structure Systems GmbH (HPS GmbH) to co-develop deployable antenna reflector subsystems for satellites.
These high-precision reflectors, compact during launch and unfurling once in orbit, are vital for transmitting and receiving signals in next-gen applications like satellite internet, real-time Earth imaging, secure defence communications, and disaster management systems.
While India has excelled in many space technologies, deployable reflectors have largely been sourced from abroad. This collaboration marks one of the first major steps by an Indian private firm to co-own and build such complex systems at home, aligning with the nation’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision.
“This partnership is about closing a strategic gap,” said Amit Mahajan, Director at Paras Defence. “By building deployable reflector systems within India, we’re laying the foundation for scalable, future-ready space platforms.”
Paras will serve as the primary interface for Indian customers, leveraging its expertise in optics, RF & microwave systems, and defence engineering. HPS GmbH will bring global design and manufacturing know-how, with plans to eventually help establish production facilities in India.
The agreement ensures exclusive access to HPS’s technologies in the Indian market, with scope to expand into other advanced space products. For India’s aerospace sector, it’s not just a contract; it’s a decisive step toward becoming a hub for indigenously co-developed, globally competitive space systems.
