Goa seeks stronger air cargo, MRO, and drone logistics focus at the Western Region Civil Aviation Ministers’ Conference.

At the Western Region Civil Aviation Ministers’ Conference held in Mumbai, the Government of Goa emphasised the need for integrated aviation-logistics development to complement its tourism growth. Led by Hon’ble Tourism Minister Shri Rohan A. Khaunte, the state urged the Centre to expedite the setup of a Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility at Mopa’s Manohar International Airport, and proposed establishing a Flight Training Organization (FTO) to support regional skill development in aviation and cargo handling.
Highlighting logistics as a key enabler, Goa also called for support in drone-based services under the “Drone Didi” initiative, with plans for a Drone Innovation Hub and emerging air cargo models. Additionally, the state pitched a unique multimodal proposal, an integrated air–sea tourism and cargo hub connecting Dabolim Airport to Vasco’s cruise terminal.
These submissions reflect Goa’s intent to align its tourism-centric economy with growing national priorities in aviation-led cargo, regional connectivity, and infrastructure development.
