Four infrastructure projects reviewed at NPG’s 96th meeting for better logistics, last-mile, and regional connectivity.

The 96th meeting of the Network Planning Group (NPG) under PM GatiShakti was held to assess four key infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing multimodal connectivity, logistics efficiency, and regional development.
Three railway proposals from the Ministry of Railways and one greenfield highway project from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways were evaluated. These included the Asangaon-Kasara 4th Line in Maharashtra, critical for easing congestion near major ports and logistics hubs; the doubling of Bakhtiyarpur-Tilaiya rail line in Bihar, boosting freight movement to cement and power plants; and the third and fourth rail lines between Delhi and Ambala, improving access to key economic zones and airports across the NCR and Haryana.
The sole road project, four-laning of Mokama-Munger section of NH-80 in Bihar, aims to support the Baruani industrial region and enhance freight flow between Patna and Jharkhand.
The review focused on integrated planning, last-mile connectivity, and intermodal synergy. The projects are expected to unlock significant socio-economic benefits upon implementation.
