The Rajasthan government has granted industry status to the logistics sector to boost investment, infrastructure, and connectivity.
The Rajasthan government has officially recognised the logistics sector as an industry, aiming to foster investment and streamline operations. The state cabinet approved a new policy focused on infrastructure development, multi-modal connectivity, and private sector participation.
Authorities plan to leverage Rajasthan’s strategic location, which connects 40 percent of India’s market and intersects key highways, railways, and the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor. The policy aims to strengthen nine economic corridors linked to major production clusters.
The Rajasthan Investment Promotion Scheme will offer benefits such as exemptions on electricity duty, stamp duty, and interest subsidies, along with concessional land rates. RIICO will reserve land for logistics projects, and a scheme may be introduced to regularize existing warehouses.
With a focus on digitalisation and sustainability, the policy encourages automation and green logistics to enhance efficiency. The state aims to position itself as a major logistics hub, boosting economic growth and supply chain resilience.
