In order to go live globally on CargoAi, Lufthansa Cargo is starting a pilot in three nations. The instant rate offer and booking confirmation will be used for the first time by a CargoAi customer. Due to a Letter of Intent signed between Lufthansa Cargo and CargoAi, customers of the marketplace in The Netherlands, Italy, and Spain now have access to routing and capacity data for all Lufthansa Group airlines operating in those nations. Now, passengers can reserve general and express cargo on Lufthansa, Austrian, Brussels, Eurowings, or SunExpress.
According to Matthieu Petot, CEO of CargoAi, “We are honored that Lufthansa Cargo, one of Europe’s leading air cargo carriers, has chosen to offer its capacity on our platform.” “Lufthansa Cargo, which has a long history of innovation, is once again innovating with CargoAi: it is the first and only airline to date to make our quick rate offer and booking confirmation functions available to forwarders.”
According to Ashwin Bhat, CCO of Lufthansa Cargo: “We want to offer a variety of booking options to our clients. CargoAi’s phenomenal success in the short four years since its founding reflects the innovation we pursue inside our business and industry. In the airfreight industry, Lufthansa Cargo was one of the pioneers in introducing eBooking channels. In three pilot nations, a sizable portion of our customer base uses the ebooking functionality. Regarding the functionality, user interface, and experience of the new programme, we will be paying close attention.
The initial roll-out is a pilot that will last for the next two to three months while Lufthansa Cargo and CargoAi perfect their setups for a worldwide go-live. The airline will therefore gain from a user-friendly, customised e-booking system that will enable it to maximise the effectiveness of its forwarding operation. It will also gain from marketing its services to the more than 5,000 freight forwarders who routinely utilize CargoAi’s marketplace and are located in 103 different countries.
