DP World enhances global supply chain security with AEO-LO certification from CBIC.
DP World has been awarded the Authorised Economic Operator for Logistic & Terminal Operators (AEO-LO) certification by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC). This certification, granted under the World Customs Organisation (WCO) SAFE Framework of Standards, acknowledges companies that bolster global supply chain security and facilitate the movement of legitimate goods.
The AEO-LO certification will streamline DP World’s clearance procedures at all customs stations across India for five years. Rajesh Pandey, Chief Commissioner of Customs, Mumbai Zone-II, Jawaharlal Nehru Custom House, presented the certification to Akash Agrawal, Vice President, Freight Forwarding, India subcontinent, DP World.
By meeting AEO-LO’s stringent standards, DP World ensures secure multi-channel and multi-region cargo movement. The company will benefit from facilitation ease in countries with whom India has signed the Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA), including South Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
The certification also grants DP World access to Direct Port Delivery (DPD) for import containers and Direct Port Entry (DPE) for export containers, reducing turnaround time and expediting goods movement through customs.
The AEO-LO certification is advantageous for businesses involved in export-import activities, including freight forwarding and operations in Free Trade Warehousing Zones. Benefits include faster cargo processing and clearance, deferred duty payment, direct port delivery/entry, and MRA advantages.
