New Kuehne+Nagel logistics centre in Germany to enhance global spare parts distribution.
Kuehne+Nagel and the Wacker Neuson Group have inaugurated a new contract logistics centre in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. This centre, operated by Kuehne+Nagel, spans approximately 55,000 square metres and will facilitate the global supply of spare parts for Wacker Neuson from Mülheim-Kärlich.
The collaboration between Wacker Neuson, a manufacturer of light and compact equipment, and Kuehne+Nagel has been ongoing for nine years, focusing on spare parts logistics solutions. The new distribution centre is expected to create 120 jobs. A fleet of over 30 autonomous robots will assist employees with storage, retrieval, and transportation tasks, enhancing efficiency through advanced sensors, cameras, and algorithms that enable them to navigate and adapt to their environment independently.
The centre will stock and dispatch over 100,000 spare parts components, with the flexibility to expand operations to meet future demands in spare parts distribution. Gianfranco Sgro, Executive Vice President of Contract Logistics and Integrated Logistics at Kuehne+Nagel, emphasised the strategic importance of this partnership, highlighting the combined history of over 300 years between the two companies.
Andrew Voigt, Managing Director of Wacker Neuson Aftermarket & Services, noted that this state-of-the-art facility positions their spare parts and service business for future growth, ensuring sustained customer relationships beyond the initial sale of equipment.
