CONCOR initiates rail evacuation of DPD containers from GTI, reducing congestion and emissions.
In a bid for sustainable logistics, Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) has launched rail evacuation for direct port delivery (DPD) containers from Gateway Terminals India (GTI) at Jawaharlal Nehru Port.
This strategic move aims to alleviate congestion and reduce emissions, departing from traditional road-based transit methods. DPD enables direct delivery of import containers to pre-approved consignees within port precincts, streamlining cargo handling and cutting costs.
Collaborating with GTI and PSA BDP, CONCOR dispatched two cargo-laden rakes from GTI to Varnama ICD in Vadodara, reaching SABIC’s manufacturing plant. This partnership highlights a shift towards eco-friendly logistics practices and operational excellence. GTI’s commitment to rail-based container movement aligns with its sustainable business agenda. CONCOR’s pioneering rail evacuation signifies a significant step towards greener, more efficient logistics solutions, marking a milestone in India’s maritime trade evolution.
