The Pentagon has officially stated that the drone attack on the MV CHEM PLUTO, a cargo vessel en route to Mangalore, originated from Iran.
The Liberia-flagged vessel was struck in the Arabian Sea, 200 nautical miles from the Indian coast, with the Pentagon identifying it as the seventh Iranian attack on commercial shipping since 2021.
The incident has raised concerns about regional tensions, especially following the recent Hamas attack on Israel. The Indian Navy is conducting an investigation, and the vessel is set to arrive in Mumbai under escort from ICGS Vikram. This event underscores the growing challenges in maritime security in the region.
