WFS signs long-term lease for two warehouses at Frankfurt Airport to boost EFFH services from January 2026.

Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) is expanding its E-commerce & Freight Forwarder Handling (EFFH) services at Frankfurt Airport, Europe’s largest cargo hub, after signing a long-term lease for two warehouse facilities effective January 2026.
The expansion will increase WFS’s capacity to support freight forwarding, trucking, and e-commerce clients, tapping into growing volumes at the airport. In 2024, Frankfurt’s cargo throughput rose 6.2% year-on-year to 2.1 million tonnes, driven by e-commerce growth, and continued to rise in early 2025.
The leased 24,000 m² site in Cargo City South includes two warehouses and office buildings equipped with ULD handling systems and volume/dimension scanners, allowing WFS to handle up to 100,000 tonnes annually for EFFH clients.
Marc Claesen, SVP Northern Europe & Africa at WFS, noted the move enhances efficiency, reduces touchpoints, and speeds throughput for customers. Strategically located near truck shuttle routes, the facilities will streamline operations between forwarders and airport services. WFS already operates EFFH services at multiple European airports, including Amsterdam, Paris CDG, Copenhagen, Brussels, and Madrid.
