VOC Port celebrated 100 percent job placement for trainees in its Welder and CNC programmes, reaffirming its dedication to upskilling local youth.

On November 26, 2025, in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu, the Centre of Excellence in Maritime and Shipbuilding (CEMS) hosted the final event of the skill development programmes as part of the Port’s CSR project. The successful trainees of the EXIM & Warehouse Executive, Welder, and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) programmes received their course completion certificates from Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, Chairperson, in front of senior Port officers and Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS, Deputy Chairperson.
Strong placement results indicate industry acceptance and demand, and the programme has continued to produce quantifiable results. Numerous trained applicants have found successful employment with large multinational corporations. It is important to mention that every one of the 14 trainees in the batch of CNC operators and welders found work, resulting in a 100 percent placement success rate. The programme is a significant step towards long-term community development, professional change, and economic advancement.
VOC Port has been conducting several skill development programmes through CEMS, which is a major step towards equipping local youngsters with industry-relevant skills and enhancing their career opportunities across various sectors. Domestic Data Entry Operator, Exim Executive, Warehouse Executive, Welder, CNC Operator, Supply Chain Executive, and Courier Associate Operations are among the seven specific vocational courses offered by the programmes to improve employability across many industrial sectors.
IRSEE Chairperson Sushant Kumar Purohit encouraged the students to take advantage of this chance to advance their careers during his speech. In the training sessions, he also emphasised the significance of gender equality and equal opportunities for women. The trainees were given advice and insights by Deputy Chairperson Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS, who urged them to actively seek out new chances and consistently acquire new skills in order to develop and progress their careers.
VOC Port reiterates its dedication to providing employment-orientated training and ongoing skill development to benefit local populations. The Port continues to support the socioeconomic development of the area by helping young people acquire useful industry skills and land fulfilling employment opportunities. The programme is a reflection of the port’s continued commitment to developing a workforce that is diverse, competent, and prepared for the marine and industrial industries.
