Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government allocates ₹1,150 crore in the fiscal year 2024-25 budget to enhance air connectivity, focusing on the upcoming Noida International Airport in Gautam Buddha Nagar.
In a significant move to boost air connectivity, the Uttar Pradesh state government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has allocated ₹1,150 crore in the fiscal year 2024-25 budget for the development of the Noida International Airport in Gautam Buddha Nagar. Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna announced the provision while presenting the ₹7.36 lakh crore state budget in the Uttar Pradesh assembly on Monday.
The ongoing development of the Noida International Airport’s phase one in Jewar is in progress, with expectations for commercial operations to commence by the end of this year. Khanna highlighted that with the establishment of Noida International Airport, Uttar Pradesh is set to become the only state in India with five international airports.
Additionally, ₹150 crore has been earmarked for the expansion of Maharishi Valmiki International Airport in Ayodhya, while ₹1,100 crore is allocated for the construction, expansion, and strengthening of airstrips, along with land acquisition across the state.
Efforts to enhance air connectivity in the state are aligned with initiatives under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS-UDAN) of the Centre and the Civil Aviation Promotion Policy of the state government, according to the UP finance minister. He noted a notable 19.2 percent increase in the number of air passengers in the current fiscal year compared to the previous year.
