As per the recently held 49th Network Planning Group meeting of PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan, it has been suggested that the Tripura Roadways Project of Rs.2,486 Crore should be implemented to enhance regional connectivity.
The 134.9 km long road section of Khowai-Teliamura-Harina was previously considered for widening the two lanes and improving the overall NH-208 at the cost of 2,486 Crore in Tripura. The decision was made with a plan of multi-modal connectivity in the region, which in turn can connect industrial clusters and a new SEZ in West Jalefa village of South Tripura for effective movement of freight.
The project also seeks to reduce carbon footprint and increase logistical efficiency as it is close to the Bangladesh border.
