The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) successfully concluded its TIACA Event Africa in Nairobi, bringing together 200 delegates to discuss African air cargo market intricacies. Topics covered included SAATM, AfCFTA, eCommerce, pharma, perishables, freighter capacity, workforce challenges, digital innovation, and air cargo outlook. Delegates participated in two days of discussions, debates, and networking sessions, fostering collaboration within the air cargo community. The event received significant support from the Kenyan government, the African Airlines Association (AFRAA), Kenya Airports Authority, and various sponsors.
Steven Polmans, Chair of TIACA, emphasised the importance of such events in uniting the industry globally. Alex Gitari, MD of Kenya Airports Authority, highlighted the event’s role in enhancing air cargo operations efficiency within Africa. Regional events like this allow TIACA to identify specific regional issues to incorporate into their strategic objectives and activities. The collaboration between TIACA and AFRAA was deemed crucial for the development of the African air transport industry. TIACA’s Director General, Glyn Hughes, emphasised the importance of connecting with the industry through regional events and announced the next event, the global TIACA Executive Summit, to be hosted by Brussels International Airport in November 2023.
