Giriraj Singh meets Japanese textile leaders to boost India-Japan collaboration in textile manufacturing and retail.

Union Minister of Textiles, Shri Giriraj Singh, began his official visit to Japan on 14th July 2025 by paying floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in Tokyo, honouring the values of truth, non-violence, and compassion.
During his visit, the Minister chaired a detailed briefing with Ambassador Shri Sibi George at the Indian Embassy, focusing on India-Japan textile sector ties. A key meeting was held with Tadashi Yanai, Chairman and CEO of Fast Retailing Co., where the expansion of the company’s sourcing and manufacturing operations in India was discussed.
Shri Singh also met with leaders from Stylem Co., inviting them to explore investment in India through initiatives like PM MITRA Parks. A significant announcement came from Daiso Industries, which plans to open 200 stores in India and begin cotton product manufacturing.
The day concluded with a high-level roundtable with CEOs of major Japanese textile companies, where the Minister promoted investment in technical textiles, fibre production, and machinery. The session featured presentations by Ambassador Sibi George and Additional Secretary Shri Rohit Kansal on India’s textile growth roadmap.
