Noida tasks the School of Planning and Architecture with designing a logistics framework to streamline cargo movement.

The Noida administration announced on 07 January 2026 that it has commissioned the School of Planning and Architecture to devise a comprehensive City Logistics Plan. This initiative aims to refine the transport of goods and alleviate traffic pressures within the region.
Noida was chosen by the central government to establish a city-level logistics strategy under the national planning framework. This project is being overseen by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, operating under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Following a national workshop held in 2025, the city was shortlisted to develop a detailed strategy focused on operational efficiency and environmentally friendly transport solutions.
To identify a suitable consultant, the administration reviewed proposals from several prestigious government bodies, including various Institutes of Technology. Ultimately, the School of Planning and Architecture was selected on a nomination basis. This institution has a history of collaboration with local authorities, having previously drafted the 2041 master plan for the Delhi–Noida–Ghaziabad Investment Region.
As part of this assignment, the consultants will:
- Map Infrastructure: Conduct a thorough assessment of the current cargo ecosystem, including warehouses and industrial hubs.
- Optimise Routes: Identify major transit paths and propose dedicated corridors for heavy vehicles.
- Improve Facilities: Recommend enhanced zones for loading and unloading, along with better parking arrangements.
- Schedule Transit: Establish timetables to move goods during off-peak hours to avoid clashing with local commuters.
Specialist committees will be established to unite government representatives, industry leaders, and logistics providers from the e-commerce, electronics, and pharmaceutical sectors. Medical supply chains are also expected to be a primary focus. Furthermore, the plan will incorporate sustainability targets to lower carbon emissions and a formal system for monitoring progress.
Lokesh M, the chief executive of the Noida administration, confirmed that the strategy will prioritise the optimisation of existing infrastructure due to restricted land availability.
